NEW DELHI: The national capital witnesses an average of one death every month in incidents of auto fires. Deaths in car fires in the national capital have prompted the government to prepare a roadmap for time-bound investigation of these accidents and to ensure that automobile manufacturers rectify any faults that show up in these probes. With the number of car fires increasing on a daily basis, it has become very important to know how to survive in case of an unfortunate scene of crisis. Here are 5 ways to survive a car blaze Immediate action: Stop the car and get out of the car as soon as you detect fire or smoke arising from the bonnet. Prioritize: In the event of a fire inside your car, forget your belongings — the car can burst into flames at any moment. Precaution: In order to avoid the fatal eventualities associated with car blazes, keep some safety nets handy. A fire extinguisher, a small hammer or some other small tool such as a spanner or wheel nut brace can be used to smash the windows of a car in case of a fire. Presence of mind: Instead of panicking and letting nerves take over, think on your feet in case of a care blaze. If the front end of the car is on fire, move the rear seat and try breaking out of the tailgate/ rear window. Summon help: Finally, in case you are caught in a car blaze, immediately seek help, even if the fire seems like a minor event.
