AHMEDABAD: Even as alleged key Indian Mujahideen member Ahmed Siddibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal was remanded in two days of police custody in the Danilimda blast case, which was one of the place where the bomb had exploded in July 2008 serial blasts, the crime branch is all set to escort him back to Delhi on May 3.
The crime branch officials said that Ahmed's custody would be given back to National Investigation Agency which is probing the Sarojaninagar blast case in which more than 50 people had been killed. Ahmed was arrested on a transfer warrant by Ahmedabad crime branch in July 2008 serial blasts case on April 1, 2017. He was then arrested by the Surat police in a bomb planting case where 29 unexploded bombs were recovered from the diamond city, a day after the Ahmedabad serial blasts took place on July 26, 2008.
The crime branch officials said they have asked for a special BSF plane to fly Bhatkal back to Delhi. "We don't want to take any chances we have opted for the BSF plane to fly him back to Delhi" said a crime branch official.
