Bhatkal/Dubai, Nov 9 – Hyderabad MP and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi joined the chorus of tributes pouring in for SM Syed Khalil, a prominent businessman and philanthropist from Bhatkal, who passed away in Dubai on Thursday after a brief illness. Remembering him as a towering figure in the Nawayat community, Owaisi described Khalil as a compassionate leader who worked tirelessly for the underprivileged.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Owaisi affectionately referred to him as "Khalil Bhau," emphasizing the profound loss felt by the community. “My condolences to the family of SM Syed Khalil saheb. He was affectionately called as Khalil Bhau, a great personality from the Nawayat Community. He headed many social organizations and helped many poor and needy people. A great loss to the people of Bhatkal. Will miss you, Khalil Bhau,” he wrote.
Syed Khalil, a respected leader and philanthropist, dedicated his life to uplifting the Nawayat community and promoting education, especially for girls. A chartered accountant by profession, he was one of the early pioneers from Bhatkal to venture into the Gulf in 1978. His commitment and acumen helped propel the Galadari Company in Dubai to great heights over three decades.
As the Founder Chairman of K&K Enterprises in Sharjah, Khalil earned recognition as a trailblazer in international trade. Beyond business, his leadership roles in organizations like Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen and Rabita Society underscored his devotion to fostering social harmony and educational development in Bhatkal.
Syed Khalil’s influence extended beyond his hometown. As the Chairman of Madhyama Communications Ltd., Mangalore, he actively contributed to the promotion of Kannada and Konkani languages and their cultural heritage.
