Who is Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar? Know everything about Congress candidate for LS polls from Uttara Kannada

Karwar: 26 March 2024 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, a prominent figure in the Indian National Congress, has been nominated as the party's candidate for the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming general elections. Hailing from a Hindu Maratha family in Khanapur, Belagavi district, Karnataka, Dr. Nimbalkar has established herself as a respected leader and spokesperson within the party.

 

With a distinguished academic background, Dr. Nimbalkar holds an MBBS degree along with a master's in Gynaecology and Laparoscopy, showcasing her commitment to healthcare and women's issues. 

 

Since 2018, Dr. Nimbalkar represented Khanapur of Belgaum district at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, earning recognition as one of the ten doctors elected to the assembly.

 

In 2020, she contested for Director's Election of The Belgaum District Central Co-operative Bank but lost to Arvind Chandrakant Patil of Bharatiya Janata Party.

 

In 2023, she was defeated by Vithal Halagekar of Bharatiya Janata Party, Anjali got a total of 37,205 votes while BJP candidate Vithal Halagekar won with 91,834 votes.

 

She protested salary hike under The Karnataka Ministers Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2022 by the Government of Karnataka and requested government to spend same money to give better facilities to the citizens. She organized padyatra to highlight issues of poor and neglected communities from her constituency

 

In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Nimbalkar faces a formidable opponent in Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who replaced six-term MP Anantkumar Hegde as the BJP candidate from the constituency.
