Vijayshankar to join Congress on Jan. 19

The former Minister C.H. Vijayshankar, who quit the BJP more than two months ago, will be joining the Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G. Parameshwara in Bengaluru on January 19. Mr. Vijayshankar disclosed this to reporters after a meeting with Mr. Siddaramaiah at his residence here on Friday. After joining the Congress, Mr. Vijayshankar said he would also brief the media to expose certain leaders of the BJP, with which he was associated for more than two decades. Says CM invited him to his house Mr. Vijayshankar told The Hindu he visited Mr. Siddaramaiah’s residence as he was invited by the Chief Minister. The date for his entry into the Congress was finalised after Mr. Siddaramaiah discussed the matter with the KPCC president. After his entry into the Congress, a public rally will be organised at Hunsur, covering all the surrounding constituencies, including Periyapatna, H.D. Kote, K.R. Nagar, and Chamundeshwari. However, the date for the rally would be finalised after his entry into the party.
