Veteran farmer leader Sreedhar S. Hebbar Hakodlu passes away at 74

Bhatkal: Veteran farmer leader, progressive agriculturist and president of the Bhatkal Taluk Krishika Samaja, Sreedhar S. Hebbar Hakodlu, passed away at a hospital in Manipal on Monday evening following illness. He was 74.

 

Hebbar was also a state-level leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and was widely known for his longstanding work in support of farmers and agricultural causes.

 

He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a large number of relatives and well-wishers.

 

A prominent voice for the farming community, Hebbar played a key role in establishing a branch of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh in Bhatkal. Over the years, he led and participated in several farmer-centric movements, including protests against power tariff hikes and other issues affecting the agricultural sector.

 

Apart from his work in the farmers’ movement, he was also associated with the Havyaka community and was regarded as a respected advisor and guide.

 

For several years, he served as president of the Taluk Krishika Samaja, working closely with farmers and advocating for their interests. His contributions earned him recognition and goodwill across the region.

 

Several political, social and community leaders have expressed condolences over his demise and remembered his service to farmers and rural communities.
