Vehicles bearing noncompliant number plates to be impounded

DAMMAM: The Traffic Department has called on motorists to make sure that their vehicles’ registration plates include letters and numbers in both English and Arabic. It confirmed that the plates bearing Arabic letters have expired and therefore violate the new system. Col. Ali Al-Dubikhi, a traffic commander, said: “Vehicle owners should immediately visit traffic offices in their regions to renew licenses and remove the old plates.” He said the instructions are clear and that there would be intensive traffic inspections in the coming days to ensure that all vehicles have valid plates. “Any vehicle without Arabic and English letters and numbers on their plates will be stopped and confiscated until its situation is corrected.” Al-Dubikhi added. -arabnews
