Under-construction building collapsed; 7 injured

Bhatkal - Under-construction building near Bhatkal bunder collapsed injuring 7 labourers. According to the sources the construction work was going on as a part of state govt's plan to build new ice factories under Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation. The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm when all 33 workers have finished their work and about to leave. The injured were taken to bhatkal govt hospital and later 2 of them were shifted to Kundapur hospital. The injured were identified as Nagamma Krishna Naik, Mangla Shridhar Naik, Nagamma Hanumanth Naik, Mastamma Madava Naik, Eramma Masti Naik, Venkatesh Satu Gonda and Budayya Sukra Naik.

On receiving this news, Bhatkal DySP Dr. C.B. Vedamurthy reached the site along with CPI Guru Mathur, ASP Dr. Rohini and other staff and took control of the situation. A case has been registered and the investigation is going on.
