Umer stars for Uniforge Bhatkal in Dulsco Ramadan T20

Dubai - 12 August 2011: Uniforge Bhatkal CC defeated Brookfield Multiplex by 56 runs in the 10th Dulsco Ramadan Twenty20 tournament being played at Zabeel Park Cricket Grounds Dubai.

Electing to bat first on winning the toss, Bhatkal CC scored 149 for the loss of seven wickets and later bowled out their rivals for 93 in 16 overs.

Umer Khalid bagged four wickets to walk away with the man of the match award.

The tournament, organized by Dulsco Sports Club, in association with the DubaiMunicipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Although Bhatkal lost their first wicket with the scoreboard showing only two runs, they managed to set up a defendable target.

After opener Rashid departed early, his partner Nasrullah went on to score a half-century (51) from 38 balls.

Chauhan contributed 21 before he was run out for 21 made from an equal number of balls. Avadoot then hit a 20-ball 29 to pep up Bhatkal innings. However, two quick wickets of Azeem and Sandeep, both departing after making five runs each, slowed down Bhatkal's innings a bit.

Tail-enders Ambay and Rayyan, who remained not out on nine and 13 runs respectively, saw Bhatkal set a challenging target for Brookefield Multiplex.

Saleem bagged three wickets whilst conceding 22 runs for Brookfield Multiplex. Prashanth, Irfan and Arsalam picked up one each for 19, 25 and 27 runs respectively.

Brookfield faltered in their reply as they found a tough hurdle in bowler Umer Khalid who proved their nemesis. He got rid of both Brookfield openers Amil and Praveen with his first ball reducing them to 2 for one run.

He returned to send trap Irfan leg before wicket also for no score and then sent back Tariq who managed to score seven runs.

Only one-down Sujit made 21 before he was run out. Brookfield then lost wickets at regular intervals. Daryl (20), Arsalam (19) and Saleem (10) offered some resistance but Ambay got rid of all the tail when they were threatening to stay at the crease for some time.

Prashant chipped in six runs as Brookfield Multiplex were bowled out for 93 runs, conceding a 56-run victory to Uniforge Bhatkal CC.

Umer, who bagged four wickets whilst conceding 13 runs in his four overs, was named the man of the match.

Ambay claimed three wickets for 14 runs while Rayyan picked up one wicket for 20 runs in his two overs.

Sixteen teams, divided in four groups of four each, are taking part in the tournament. The top two from each group will advance to the knock-out stage after a round-robin league.

Matches are being held daily at the ZabeelPark with the final to be held on 26th August 2011.
