Two people on their way to attend engagement ceremony in Murdeshwar, killed in road accident; Three others critical

Honnavar: In a tragic accident near Upponi in Honnavar taluk, two people were killed on the spot and three others sustained serious injuries when a KSRTC bus collided with a Scorpio car on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place around 60 kilometres from Bhatkal.

 

According to police sources, the KSRTC bus was travelling from Bhatkal towards Sirsi, while the car was heading from Sagar to Murdeshwar. Both vehicles were reportedly at high speed when the collision occurred, leading to a severe crash that completely destroyed the front portion of the car.

 

The five passengers in the car, all from Bengaluru, were on their way to Murdeshwar to attend an engagement ceremony scheduled for Wednesday. Tragically, when the car reached Upponi, it collided head-on with the KSRTC bus.

 

Two of the passengers, identified as Rakshith and Srinivas, died on the spot due to the impact. The remaining three were critically injured and have been admitted to a hospital in Udupi, where they are undergoing treatment.

 

Honnavar police arrived at the scene soon after the accident and arranged for the injured and the deceased to be shifted to the hospital. A case has been registered at the Honnavar Police Station, and investigations are underway.
