Two arrested, one absconding in cockfight gambling raid near Bhatkal

Bhatkal, 17 June: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Murdeshwar Police have arrested two persons and launched a search for another following a raid on an alleged cockfight gambling activity at Kambarakeri in Bailur village of Bhatkal taluk.
The arrested accused have been identified as Suresh Ganapathi Naik (27) and Ashwin Beliya Naik (23), both residents of Bailur. Police said another accused, Gajanan Naik (40), managed to escape from the spot and is currently absconding.
According to police, the raid was conducted after receiving credible information about gambling being organised through cockfights at Kambarakeri.
During the operation, police apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in the gambling activity, while one suspect fled the scene.
Police also seized two roosters allegedly used for the cockfight and cash amounting to Rs 400 from the spot.
A case has been registered at Murdeshwar Police Station. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Hanumanth Biradar.
