Tamil Nadu: 15 minor girls rescued from shelter home, inmates accuse owner of sexual harassment

Chennai: In an appalling case reported from Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, 15 minor girls were rescued from a shelter home following complaints of sexual abuse against their in-charge. The owner of the shelter home has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to news agency PTI, the police officials said led by the District Collector KS Kandasamy, the police visited the home last night and sealed the premises. The issue came to light when some of the inmates informed authorities about the alleged sexual abuse by the accused during a recent safety campaign. Reportedly, the home in-charge made them watch pornographic content before abusing the girls. PTI report further claimed that the issue came to light during a recent campaign undertaken by the authorities to ensure the safety of inmates in such homes in the district. During the campaign, in a written statement, some of the girls revealed that they were being allegedly abused by the owner. However, the rescued children have since been shifted to a government facility and further police probe is underway. Source: Times Now
