State Minority Commission Chairman visits Bhatkal, discusses minorities’ situation with Tanzeem officials

Bhatkal: 30 November 2023 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) State Minority Commission Chairman Abdul Azim paid a visit to coastal Karnataka, including Bhatkal, where he engaged with local journalists to shed light on initiatives aimed at the development of minority communities.
During his visit, Chairman Azim revealed efforts towards securing Rs. 5000 crores from the state government to be allocated for the welfare of minorities. Additionally, he stressed the need for a minimum allocation of Rs. 5000 crores in the upcoming budget to ensure maximum benefits for a larger section of the minority population.
To enhance accessibility to state schemes for minorities, Chairman Azim disclosed that the commission has requested the state government to facilitate online application submissions through mobile platforms. He further urged the resumption of halted services to streamline the process.
In light of the anticipated surge in applications, District Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to implement a random selection process to fairly decide on the beneficiaries of the scheme, he added.
Chairman Azim also announced the reinstatement of the Shadi Bhagya scheme and the allocation of Rs. 50,000 assistance to minorities under the Hindu 'Sapatpadi' scheme, administered by the Religious Endowment Department.
During his visit, Azim made a also visited Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, where he engaged with officials and discussed the prevailing situations affecting minority communities in the region.
