In the wake of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registering an FIR against Minister K.J. George in the case pertaining to suicide of DySP M.K.Ganapathy, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi have demanded the Minister’s resignation. Speaking to presspersons in Hubballi on Friday, Mr. Shettar and Mr. Joshi threatened to go on an agitation if the Minister failed to tender his resignation on moral grounds. Mr. Shettar said that Mr. George had lost his eligibility to continue in the post ever since CBI began investigation and named him in the FIR. “Mr. George has been named as accused number one in the FIR. And if Mr. George has any morality left in him, he should resign immediately. If not, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should remove him from his Cabinet,” Mr. Shettar said. He alleged that if allowed to continue in the post, Mr. George was likely to destroy evidence and create hurdles for the investigation using his office. “If he does not tender his resignation, then we will be forced to take to the streets. And, we will also raise the issue in the winter Assembly session,” Mr. Shettar said. Mr. Joshi said that the party would hold protests across the State seeking his resignation and stage black flag protests wherever the Minister went. He also said that the protests would continue until Mr. George resigned.
