MANGALORE: Political thinker and Jain University Pro Vice-Chancellor Sandeep Shastri’s analysis on fringe parties like Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) not having any impact on the prospects of Congress has been vindicated by the election results. Barring SDPI president Abdul Majeed Kodlipete, all 23 SDPI candidates, including six from Dakshina Kannada district, lost their deposit at the hustings. Only Abdul Majeed Kodlipete from Narasimharaja Assembly constituency in Mysore, who lost to four-time MLA Tanveer Sait, managed to retain his deposit.
