Rain brings cheer to farmers across the state

Various parts of the state received heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day on Thursday, bringing respite from the blistering heat. Belagavi city received a heavy downpour for more than an hour in the afternoon for the second consecutive day. Villages surrounding the district headquarters too recorded heavy rainfall.

Bailhongal town and surrounding villages like Nandihalli and Kalbhavi recorded heavy downpour. Overcast conditions prevailed in Kittur and surrounding villages. Bailhongal town and surrounding villages received heavy rains for over an hour on Thursday. Khanapur town and surrounding villages which had been witnessing overcast conditions saw drizzles in the afternoon. Haveri Rain lashed the district in the past week and Haveri town and various rural areas of the district saw rainfall on Thursday. The skies remained overcast on Thursday morning and rains lashed the city in the afternoon. The heavy rains inundated the vegetable and animal markets, bus and railway stations, causing chaos. Many villages in Haveri Ranibennur and Byadagi taluks also received moderate rainfall. Several parts of Bagalkot, Uttara Kannada and Shivamogga districts also experienced good spell of rain on Thursday.
