QR codes to be installed in hotels, medical stores for public complaints, announces U T Khader

Bengaluru, Aug 17: QR codes will soon be installed in public places, including hotels and medical stores. By scanning the QR code, the public can submit complaints regarding food quality, service, or other issues, announced health minister U T Khader.

Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru regarding the operations conducted by the food department, he said, "This system is being designed to bring public complaints to the attention of officials quickly. The government is stepping forward to implement such a system for the first time in Karnataka."

"The raids on hotels in Bengaluru will continue. In addition to this, the food served in private hostels, PGs, bus stands, wedding halls, railway canteens, and on flights will also be inspected. If poor-quality food is found being served in PGs, it will not be excused under any circumstances," he warned.

"Inspections have been carried out at over 60 3-star and 5-star hotels, eight godowns, and four enterprise restaurants within the Bengaluru city limits. The operations were conducted by forming 30 teams led by food safety and health safety officials. During the checks, several food items that were expired, mislabelled, and improperly stored were seized," he informed.
