Oman's Indian Community Eid Milan a resounding hit

Muscat - A good turn out marked the annual Indian Community Eid Milan 2010 held recently at Indian School, Al Ghubra. The superbly organised eid Milan was organised by Embassy of India, Eid Milan Committee and the Indian Social Club. It was an honour for Bhatkal community that Aftab Kola was the co-ordinator of the Indian Community Eid Milan, Muscat.

Wishing the audience, Anil Wadhwa, ambassador of India to Oman, asserted that Eid gives out a message of universal brotherhood and the presence of a good crowd at the Eid Milan gives a feeling that we are celebrating eid in India. He added, 'despite living in foreign country the Indian diaspora have retained their rich culture and traditions and that unite the different groups of Indians scattered in Oman.'

Sheikh Abdussalam Hatim, a prominent Omani scholar, delivered a brief but very useful talk on universal brotherhood in Islam. Earlier, Yusuf Nalawala, welcomed the gathering and said that occasions like eid Milan offer an opportunity to exchange greetings. Jamil Zaidi, a poet, rendered a na'at. Aftab H Kola, coordinator of the Indian Community Eid Milan 2010, conducted the proceedings. Eid Milan Committee members C.M. Najeeb, Ahmed Raees and P.M. Jabir were among those present at the occasion. Dr Satish Nambiar, chairman of Indian Social Club, proposed a vote of thanks.

The Eid Milan was patronised by Indian School Al Ghubra, Oman Modern Bakery, Pepsico Oman and Unilever.
