BENGALURU: The tiny tots of Trio World Academy went for an eco-friendly celebration of festival of lights, using flowers and organic colours, instead of crackers, in their effort of having a pollution-free Diwali. Dressed in bright ethnic outfits, the toddlers enjoyed filling rangolis drawn by their teachers with eco-friendly colours and decorated the balcony with paper chandeliers. "We were very keen on encouraging our students to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner this year. Most of the times, students try to recreate memories made in school at home. This is the reason we organized Diwali celebrations and taught children to decorate using flowers. We also persuaded children to buy sweets instead of crackers to celebrate Diwali and distribute them among their friends and underprivileged children", K.M Naveen, Managing Director, Trio World Academy. They enjoyed a variety of sweets and savories that they had brought as part of the potluck organized by the school, which gave them an opportunity to flavor the special delicacies of the festivities. Instead of bursting crackers that considerably contribute to air and noise pollution, the children were encouraged to enjoy Diwali with song and dance by the teachers. Spreading the light through joy of sharing, the students of grade 1 and 2 celebrated Diwali by visiting Home of Faith, an orphanage situated in Kalyan Nagar. As part of the initiative, students donated groceries and sweets to the children in the orphanage. -TOI
