MUSCAT - Like last year this time too the Eid Milan 2010 organised by the Bhatkal Muslim Jamat, Muscat was different from eid milans held elsewhere in the GCC.

The impressive eid Milan featured interesting and humorous skits which have been the hallmark of Muscat eid Milan for the last the last two years.

Organised on eid day at the Crystal Suites in Wadi Al Kabir, an alcohol-free three-star property, the programme started with qiraat by Moazzam followed by brief speeches by Hassan Shabbar Mohtesham, Riyaz Merchant (deputy convener, eid Milan committee), Moulana Rahmatullah Ruknuddin and Saleem Sada (jamat president and convener of the eid Milan committee). S.M. Syed Shakeel beautifully rendered a poem on Eid written by the late Syed Abdurrahim Irshad.

Yet again the children from Bhatkal proved their talent by enacting varied short items which regaled the audience at the Part II of the session. The mazahiya mushaira 'Yeh Dil Mange More' fully entertained the crowd with humorous, clean/decent poems and couplets while the skit Mobaila Cho Zamana revolved around how the mobile has become a rage these days.

The brief skit, Chappi Shifarato, highlighted on the women talk in which they flaunt their husbands' wealth and generosity in spending while another skit, Duniyachi Ser was about a roadside photo-watching box which shows views of the cities' landmarks.

A patriotic presentation was also appreciated by the 600-odd crowd.

Among the songs were Taare Zameen Par, Apav Ta Tumka Gaon Ya, Assubuhu Bada and Salim Nazish-written Kon Baltat Nikki Noi.

The raffle, comprising of more than 30 items was conducted by Aftab Kola, jamat vice-president and Arshad Ekkeri. Abdul Wahab Ekkeri conducted the event while Qamar Merchant, Jamat GS, proposed a vote of thanks.
