Moto E gets a price cut, now costs Rs 6,299

NEW DELHI: Moto E, the smartphone that redefined the budget smartphone market earlier this year by offering competitive features at a low price, was recently relegated to the sidelines with the launch of models like Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Google's Android One phones. However, the Motorola smartphone has been given a price cut, thus positioning it better against its chief rivals. Flipkart, which is the exclusive retailer of Motorola products in India, has announced via a tweet that the price of Moto E smartphone has been reduced from Rs 6,999 to Rs 6,299. Although the tweet mentioned that this offer is valid only for a limited period, the time period has not been revealed. Flipkart in its Big Billion Sale had reduced the price of Moto E to Rs 5,499. At a price of Rs 6,299, Moto E is better positioned to compete with Xiaomi Redmi 1S and the recently launched Android One phones. These smartphones offered similar or better features at lower price till now. Sporting a 4.3-inch (960x540p) display, the phone runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and will be upgraded to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Moto E comes with 1GB RAM and has 4GB of internal storage and can support microSD cards of up to 32GB. The phone also has a 5MP rear camera, minus LED flash, and the connectivity features of the smartphone include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and microUSB 2.0. Moto E has a 1,980mAh battery.   TOI
