Monthly Lok Adalat in Bengaluru settles 38,924 cases

BENGALURU: A monthly Lok Adalat held on Saturday across the state and a total of 38,924 cases were settled, which included 4,366 pending cases and a whopping 34,558 pre-litigation cases. 2,798 of these cases were pending before the labour courts and compensation exceeding Rs 1.16 cr was awarded. In addition, 34,402 pre-litigation labour disputes also ended in settlement and compensation in excess of Rs 2.57 cr was awarded. Similarly, 1,568 pending family court cases were also settled and compensation in excess of Rs 1.50 cr awarded.In addition, 156 pre-litigation family matters were also settled and Rs 85,000 compensation awarded to the parties. The next monthly lok adalat will be held on 13th June, 2015 in which cases pertaining to motor vehicle accident claims & insurance matters will be taken for settlement. -TOI
