Bhatkal: Outgoing Administrative Medical Officer of Bhatkal Taluk Hospital, Dr Savita Kamath, on Wednesday expressed hope that the developmental initiatives undertaken during her tenure would continue even after her transfer.

Speaking at a function organised at the hospital to mark Doctors' Day, where newly appointed doctors were welcomed and transferred doctors were felicitated, Dr Kamath said she was leaving Bhatkal with a sense of satisfaction.

Drawing a comparison with daughters who continue to care for their parental homes even after marriage, she said she would always wish for the progress of the hospital where she had served.

"I have been transferred after serving at Bhatkal Taluk Hospital. My only wish is that the lamp of development lit here continues to shine," she said.

Dr Kamath acknowledged the support extended by donors towards improving the hospital's infrastructure and facilities. She said the confidence reposed in her by philanthropists had made it possible to introduce several improvements that benefited patients and staff.

She also welcomed the appointment of senior specialist Dr Robert Rebello to the hospital, expressing confidence that the institution would continue to grow under his guidance.

"An institution is always greater than an individual. Its progress depends on the collective efforts of everyone associated with it," she said while thanking doctors, hospital staff, donors and the public for their cooperation during her tenure.

During the programme, specialist doctors Dr Lakshmish, Dr Satish B., Dr Kamala Nayak and nurses Amrutha M., Archana Bhandarkar and Anasuya, who have been transferred, were felicitated by the hospital administration.

The hospital also welcomed newly appointed doctors Dr Robert Rebello, Dr Prakash Nayak, Dr Anuradha Nayak and Dr Sumalatha.

The programme was presided over by Taluk Health Officer Dr Arun Nayak and attended by doctors, hospital staff, donors and other guests
