Many students here will miss the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on Teachers' Day. While most government schools lack the facilities for it, many private schools may not do it because of the timing. The speech is scheduled from 3pm to 4.45pm, but classes at many private schools conclude between 2.30pm and 3pm. Princess Franklyn, principal, Bishop Cotton Girls' School, told TOI that children leave school at 2.50pm. If children are made to stay after school hours, it'll cause a lot of inconvenience. "We've asked children to watch the speech at home," she added. She says Teachers' Day celebrations will be similar to previous years wherein children will felicitate teachers. Students of Inventure Academy will also miss the speech as classes end at 2.40pm. Nooraine Fazal, managing trustee and co-founder, said there are 920 students in the school and it's not easy to accommodate all of them to watch the speech. It'll be recorded and screened in different batches later. "After students have heard the speech, we'll organize a group discussion about it," she added. Students from Class 6 to Class 12 in Delhi Public School and Indus International School (IIS) will watch PM's speech in their classrooms. Lt. Gen. (retd) Arjun Ray, CEO, IIS, said lowergrade students will miss the speech as they leave school early every day, but they'll be shown the recording on Monday. Due to a logistical problem, students from Class 1 to 5 will miss the live telecast and will be shown the recording some other day, said Mansoor Ali Khan, board of management, Delhi Public School. -TOI
