Mangaluru: Five arrested in two cases of drugs trafficking, over 3 kg ganja seized

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Police have arrested five persons in two separate cases of ganja peddling.
In the first case, police personnel from Konaje police station, based on reliable information, inspected a motorbike bearing registration No. KA19EY755 at Oorumane cross in Manjanady village. They found 1.340 kg ganja in a motorbike worth about Rs 13,400. The motorbike valued at about Rs 25,000 along with ganja were confiscated.
A case was registered in Konaje police station under different sections of Indian Penal Code against Mohammed Haneef alias Gooli Haneef from Gerukatte, Vorkady, Habib (32), residing in Talapady village and Naseeb (19) from Miyapadavu, Manjeshwar village.
In the second such case, the city crime branch (CCB) police, based on information they gathered, raided a car at Narla Padil Ramanagara in Talapady village on Wednesday February 16, and succeeded in arresting two persons, and taking into possession 2.220 kg ganja. CCB police inspector, Mahesh Prasad, led a team of polcie officers after the team got information that ganja was being transported to the city from Kerala.
Praful Raj (23) from Meenja village, Hosangady, Manjeshwar, and Avinash (24) from Ambithadi House,Boliyar, Sajipa village in Bantwal taluk, were taken into possession.

The total value of assets seized has been estimated at Rs 5,50,400.
The police found that one of the accused, Avinash, was named as accused in a case in which a government vehicle was damaged within the city east police station limits.
