Mangalore: Child killed for Black Magic

Mangalore, December 17: In a horrendous crime reported from Sharbatkatte, near Yeyyadi on the outskirts of the city, a four year old girl child was brutally killed by two people, who were engaged in witchcraft and black magic.

The victim has been identified as Priyanka, daughter of a Bihari couple Firan Kumar Jha and Anjali Jha, who were working at a godown near Yeyyadi.

Kadri police have arrested the suspected killer Kamalaksha Purusha (72) and a woman living with him Chandrakala (35), who have already confessed that they killed the little girl as part of their black magic. Kamalaksha's elder brother Madhava (75) had also been taken into costudy by police for inquiry.

Reliable sources said that Kamalaksha and Chandra Kala had taken the little girl to their house, from her home on Thursday morning.

When Priyanka's parents went to the house of the accused to bring back the child, they said that the girl was not with them and that she was missing.

When, Priyanka, who was learning at KPT Anganavadi here, did not return to her house till the evening, her parents lodged a complaint against Kamalaksha and Chandrakala with Kadri Police, who in turn took the accused into custody for inquiry.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramesh told media persons that during the interrogation, the accused admitted that they had killed the baby after performing some rites in front of an idol at a nearby "gudi " and dumped her corpse at a plantation near their home.

Stunned by the brutal religious crime, the local residents stormed into the trio's house on Friday afternoon and tried to demolish it.
