Man collapses, dies while giving Azaan at Honavar mosque

Honavar, June 9: A man collapsed and died while delivering the azaan at a mosque in Honavar, Uttara Kannada district, on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Latheef Madani (57), a native of Kukkaje in Dakshina Kannada district.

According to available information, Abdul Latheef Madani had been serving as a muallim at the mosque for the past one year. As the mosque's regular muezzin was on leave, he was giving the azaan for the Asr prayer when he suddenly collapsed.

He is said to have died on the spot.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The president and members of the Muhiyuddin Jamia Masjid committee have expressed condolences over his demise.
