Man arrested for molesting minor girl who was returning to Bhatkal from Udupi on private bus

Bhatkal: 29 Marc,2024 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A man identified as Subrahamanya Ira Gowda from Honnavar was arrested by the local police in Bhatkal for reportedly attempting to molest a minor girl aboard a private bus.

The incident occurred when a woman and her 14-year-old daughter were traveling back to Bhatkal from Udupi on Thursday night. Allegedly, Ira Gowda made advances towards the girl during the journey, prompting the woman to intervene. However, instead of desisting, Ira Gowda allegedly behaved inappropriately towards the woman.

Upon reaching Bhatkal, the woman notified her relatives about the incident. Subsequently, upon the bus's arrival, the relatives apprehended the accused and handed him over to the Bhatkal Police.

In response, the police have taken action, registering a case against Ira Gowda under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
