Bhatkal: Local socio-political organization Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem on Friday submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu condemning the killings of over 11,000 civilians in Gaza and the ‘hypocrisy’ of the Western countries including the USA and UK.
The memorandum stated that the UK and US were ‘adding fuel to the fire by suppling military assistance, arms and finances to Israel despite the latter violating United Nations Charter for humanitarian and rules of war.
“We condemn brutal and barbaric indiscriminate catastrophic attack on Palestinian civilian population, on schools, hospitals and refugee camp by the right- wing Netanyahu government, the indiscriminate occupation of Palestinian lands and killing thousands of Palestinian kids and women.
“It's a level of insanity to allow civilians to be butchered, babies to be killed, hospitals to be bombed, and schools to be destroyed. The international community is allowing an act of genocide to be committed. The ethnic cleansing on Palestinian @Israel with the support of the west is a crime against humanity punishable under the statute of International Criminal Court,” the memorandum stated.
It demanded that Indian must press for immediate resolution for protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian values and for unhindered humanitarian access in the Gaza Strip.
“The Security Council must act to put an end to bloodshed and restart peace negotiations with a view to establish a Palestinian state as it was supposed to so long age,” the memorandum added.
“We demand, Israel’s series of war crimes in Gaza must be tried in the International Criminal Court. Let the United Nations impose sanctions on Israel via economic boycott to oblige them to implement human rights charters, and safeguard of human values and liberties. We stand with Palestinians and support free Palestine.” The memorandum further stated.
A copy of the memorandum has also been attached to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
