M. Narayan takes charge as Karwar SP

Karwar: 5 July,24 : M. Narayan, the new District Superintendent of Police (SP), emphasized that top priority will be given to maintaining peace, communal harmony, and law and order in Uttara Kannada. He assured that illegal activities will be curbed, crime rates will be reduced, and a people-friendly police system will be established.

Speaking after assuming charge at the District SP office in Karwar on Thursday, he acknowledged the challenges of working in a predominantly forested and naturally beautiful district, especially due to its border location. He assured excellent service to the public with the cooperation of police officers, staff, and district residents.

M. Narayan expressed his familiarity with the district, having previously worked in Bhatkal, describing his new role as a homecoming. He emphasized the police department's responsibility to protect the people and warned against misusing the law to file false cases against innocents.


Drawing from his experience in the state’s intelligence division, he asserted the presence of informers in every corner of the district and warned that any misuse of the law would be met with strict action under new regulations.

He assured that any reported problems would be addressed. He acknowledged the issue of accidents on district highways and promised discussions with National Highways Authority officials to implement necessary precautions in accident-prone zones to reduce cases. Traffic rules will be strictly enforced, and safety measures, including the installation of CCTV in necessary locations, will be taken to enhance safety and enforce regulations.

Highlighting Uttara Kannada as a significant tourist destination, he assured measures to ensure tourists face no inconvenience and emphasized strengthening the police intelligence division.


M. Narayan expressed confidence in curbing illegal activities and preventing untoward incidents with the cooperation of the district’s people, various departments, and the media, along with guidance from senior officers. He warned against spreading false news on social media and advised against sharing unverified information. He concluded by expressing his commitment to maintaining communal harmony, discipline, and law and order in the district, vowing to win the hearts of the people like India won the T20 World Cup.
