Lok Sabha Elections (Round 7): Most states witness moderate voter turnout

New Delhi: Voting is underway in 89 constituencies across seven states and two union territories in the seventh round of the nine phase Lok Sabha elections today. (Round 7 of polls: top 10 facts) While most states witnessed a moderate voter turnout till 12 noon, West Bengal, where 38.3 per cent of registered voters turned up to cast their votes, registered a relatively higher turnout. The conflict-torn state of Jammu and Kashmir, where elections are being held under a perceptible threat of violence, recorded a voter turnout of only 10.72 by noon. The union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli registered an impressively high voter turnout of 42.62 by 12 noon, while Daman and Diu, another union territory, registered a voter turnout of only 17.17 per cent by that time. Among the other states, Bihar registered a voter turnout of 26.14 per cent, Punjab witnessed 24.47 per cent voter turnout, Uttar Pradesh registered 23.17 per cent and Andhra Pradesh witnessed 26.96 per cent.   NDTV
