Karnataka: Police solve twin murder case

HUBBALLI: The police have solved the case of twin murder that occurred at Ajanta Hotel at JC Nagar in the city recently by arresting four accused in this regard. The investigation has revealed that the murder occurred over financial matter. Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner M N Nagaraj told reporters here on Monday that Mohammed Firoz Hanasi and Riyaz Savanur were murdered at the hotel. Their one-time friends Mohsin Navalur, 25, Akhil Bepari, 23 and Irshad Mishrikoti, 26, murdered the victim while Veeresh Sotnal, 27, helped one of the accused escape from the spot on his motorcycle. “Irshad’s brother had given Rs 10,000 to the victims to deposit the same in bank account. But, the victims did not deposit the money but spent it on other things. There was frequent tussle between the groups in this regard. On June 8, the tussle broke out again between the accused and the victims. In the duel, Irshad stabbed both the victims,” he said. While Riyaz died of his injuries on way to hospital, Firoz died in hospital. Riyaz was a driver while Firoz was a final-year BSc student. The police also seized two two-wheelers and a lethal weapon used in the execution of the murder. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody. The commissioner announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to the team of police led by ACP N B Sakri and Hubballi town police inspector Girish Bojannavar that solved the case.
