Karnataka NRIs call for helping poor

JEDDAH: Non-resident Indians from the state of Karnataka recently held their annual general meeting. The program began with Mohammed Kalim, joint cultural secretary, singing a Kannada song. Mohammed Mansour, president of the KNRI Forum, welcomed members and urged them to help the less fortunate in Karnataka. He thanked them for their confidence in him to serve as forum president. Syed Nasir Khursheed, acting general secretary, and Shaikh Saoud, chief coordinator, made presentations on Karnataka tourism and the forum, highlighting the aims, objectives, vision and achievements. Sri Harsha, treasurer, presented the balance sheet for the current financial year. Vishwanath Karkera and S.M. Jaffer inducted new members to the forum. The program was anchored by Niyaz Ahmed, cultural secretary, who also introduced the speakers. Roshan Rodrigues, vice president, Sabu Chandra, joint cultural secretary, Yashwant Amin, joint treasurer, Mohammed Saheb, joint secretary, and Walter Luwis, membership co-ordinator, were also present. Sponsors such as Sanbulla, ITL World, Internmodel Freight, Al-Abeer Polyclinic, Basem Shipping & Logistics Co. Ltd., Natcon Saudi Arabia, Kanoo, Malabar Gold, Jotun Pain and Jamiyyatul Falah were presented mementos for their support. Krish Jangal, IT coordinator, thanked guests and members of the forum for attending the function. He praised the efforts of executive team members for providing logistic support to successfully organize the event.
