Karnataka: Man rapes toddler in Belagavi district, tries to bury her alive

Yesterday, a school peon was arrested in Delhi's Shahdara for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl. Police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Karnataka's Belagavi district, and then tried to bury her alive, ANI reported. The news agency did not mention the man's name or age. If a study conducted by World Vision India is anything to go by, child sexual abuse is rampant. After surveying more than 45,000 children (ages 12-18) across the nation, the organisation found that one in every two children has been sexually abused, IANS reported. And earlier this week, the Supreme Court allowed a 13-year-old rape victim to terminate her pregnancy, weeks after it refused to let a 10-year-old rape survivor do the same.
