J. Mahesh takes charge as Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner after prolonged vacancy

Bhatkal: The post of Assistant Commissioner of Bhatkal subdivision, which had remained vacant for several months, has now been filled with the appointment of J. Mahesh as the new Sub-Divisional Officer.

Mahesh, a Karnataka Administrative Service (Junior Scale) officer, officially assumed office on Tuesday after completing formal procedures at the Assistant Commissioner’s office in Bhatkal.

The post had fallen vacant following the transfer of former Assistant Commissioner Dr. Nayan N last year. After his transfer, additional responsibility for the subdivision was handed over to Kavyarani, who was serving as Assistant Commissioner in Sirsi.

However, after her transfer as well, the Bhatkal office was again left without a full-time officer. During the interim period, Praveen Karande had been managing the additional charge.

According to the state government transfer order, Mahesh reported to Bhatkal and formally took over administration of the subdivision.

Before this posting, he had served as Commissioner of the Udupi Urban Development Authority and is said to possess considerable administrative experience.
