Incessant rains wreak havoc in Bhatkal; several areas inundated

June 18, 2016 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Incessant rains accompanied with lightning and thunderstorms lashed Bhatkal since wee hours of Saturday morning till noon time throwing normal life out of gear. With lack of storm water drains, water was seen flowing on the roads in several parts of the town. Several trees were uprooted and damages to roof tops of houses were reported from several places in Bhatkal including Mundali, Belni and Siddiqui Street. In Sonarkeri, two trees reportedly fell on electric poles causing disruption of power supply in the town. Compound wall collapses were reported from several parts of the town including Hurulisaal. Because of heavy rains, several areas in Bhatkal were also inundated. Shamsuddin Circle and Rangeen Katte were also inundated disrupting the movement of vehicles on the national highway. -ARF
