IMD in predicts rain for two days in DK, Uttara Kannada , 10 other districts from Dec 11

Bengaluru, Dec 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain for Bengaluru and 12 other districts of Karnataka for two days starting from Monday.

As per the prediction, coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada (DK), Uttara Kannada, Udupi, southern districts of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mysuru, Ramanagar and Shivamogga districts will receive rain.

Heavy rains lashed Dakshina Kannada district on the late night of Saturday and evening of Sunday. Some parts of Udupi district received rain on the wee hours of Sunday.

Ujire, Dharmasthala, Beltangady, Indabettu, Mundaje, Naravi, Aladangadi, Guruvayanakere, Puttur, Bantwal, Sullia, Bellare, Kukke, Subramanya, Kadaba, Madyadka, Kadirudyavara, Kombar and Alankar received heavy rains in Dakshina Kannada district.

All overnight programmes like Kola and Yakshagana were affected due to the sudden rains. Gurukiran night that was organized at Dharmasthala also got affected due to rain.

Mortal remains of Jochim Crasta (64), resident of Karnad Sadashivanagar was found in Mulky bus stand. It is suspected that he died of lightning strike.

At Bairikatte near Vittal in Bantwal a house was extensively damaged due to lightning strike. The lightning struck the house of Aithappa Naik at around 11.15 pm on Saturday.

House hold items of Punacha Kellali Devappa Naika were damaged due to lightning strike to the pump shed by the side of the house.

Lightning stuck the snacks preparation room of bakery at Kanyana market run by Radhakrishna Shetty. Fire service personnel arrived on time and prevented more damage.

Lac of rupees worth loss occurred due to lightning strike on the house of Venkatesh K Bangera near Meenakaliya Vidyarthi Sangha at Baikampady.
