Karwar, July 6: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Uttara Kannada district over the coming days, with showers expected to continue until July 11. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph, urging residents to remain cautious.

According to the latest weather bulletin issued on Monday, Uttara Kannada, along with other coastal districts of Karnataka, is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during the week. Continuous rainfall may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, localized flooding, landslides in hilly regions, and disruption to road traffic.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the Arabian Sea due to rough sea conditions and strong winds. Residents and tourists have also been urged to avoid beaches, rivers, waterfalls, and landslide-prone areas until the weather improves.

The district administration and disaster management authorities have been asked to remain on alert and take all necessary precautionary measures to deal with any rain-related emergencies.
