Gold, jewellery traders in Bhatkal take out protest march

March 12, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: In a bid to pressure the government to revoke the new norms related to purchase of gold, Bhatkal Taluka Gold Smith's Association took out a protest rally here and submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner. Most of the jewellers in the taluka are not well-versed with accountancy pertaining to the new law neither do the jewellers keep all records of transactions pertaining to labourers and buyers, hence, the new law should be revoked, the memorandum demanded. It  may be noted that Union government implemented a new law to levy excise duty on ornaments and to make PAN numbers mandatory for purchases. - ARF
