Eight of Same Family Drown at Alvekodi Seashore in Bhatkal

Bhatkal, May 25: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) In a tragic incident reported from Alvekodi seashore in Bhatkal taluk on Sunday, eight members of the same family drowned after being swept away by strong waves while collecting seashells in the water. Three others remain missing, and search operations are under way.

According to preliminary information, 13 members of the family had visited the Alvekodi beach area for an outing on the weekend. During the visit, some of them entered the water to collect shells when they were caught in powerful waves and swept away.

Of the eight victims, six bodies were shifted to the Bhatkal Government Hospital, while the remaining two were taken to RNS Hospital.

The tragedy has left relatives and family members devastated.

Officials from the police and revenue departments are camping at the spot, while intensive search operations are continuing in the sea to trace the three missing persons.
