Door-to-door voter verification in Bhatkal from June 30 as electoral roll revision begins

Bhatkal, 26 May: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Door-to-door verification of voters in the Bhatkal Assembly constituency will begin on June 30 as part of the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for 2026, Assistant Commissioner J. Mahesh said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference at the Assistant Commissioner's Office, Mahesh said the special revision exercise is being carried out from June 20 to October 7. Preparatory work, including training programmes and printing of materials, is currently under way and will continue till June 29.

The house-to-house verification will be conducted between June 30 and July 29.

The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5. Voters will be able to file claims and objections from August 5 to September 4, while the final electoral roll will be published on October 7.

Mahesh said one Electoral Registration Officer, two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 252 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and supervisors have been deployed to carry out the revision exercise in the constituency.

The Bhatkal Assembly constituency has a total of 2,31,778 electors, and the enumeration process is already in progress. According to officials, 94.90 per cent of the work has been completed so far.

Officials said the constituency has 1,41,947 male and 1,32,719 female electors. Of these, 89,831 male and 87,230 female voters have already been covered during the enumeration process.

During the verification drive, Booth Level Officers will distribute enumeration forms to eligible voters. Electors have been asked to fill in the forms and submit them along with the required supporting documents either to the BLOs or at designated voter facilitation centres.

Mahesh appealed to the public to cooperate with election officials during the door-to-door verification process and provide the required information to help ensure that the electoral rolls remain accurate and up to date.
