Dharwad: Muslim vendors targeted by Sri Ram Sena, pushcarts vandalized

Dharwad: In the wake of prevailing communal tensions in the state, and ongoing debates over allowing non-Hindu traders in the vicinity of temples, four pushcarts owned by Muslim vendors near the Hanuman Temple of Nuggikeri Village were vandalized by the members of Sri Ram Sena here on Saturday, reported news9live.com. The members of the fringe right wing organization, Sri ram Sena have targeted the Muslim vendors in the locality while allegedly vandalizing watermelon pushcarts owned by them, the report said. The report mentioned that no action has been taken against the vandals yet. The Sena activists alleged that even after multiple warnings they (non-Hindus) have put up their stalls near the temple. Nabisabi, one of the vendors who was attacked by the Sena told reporters that, “They came out of nowhere and targeted us. They said they had warned us earlier, but I was not aware of it. They destroyed all the watermelon I had arranged for sale. I have lost fruits worth Rs 8000 due to this. I have not been attacked by anyone in 15 years of my trade here.
