Denied money, alcoholic son stones mother to death

Dharwad: In a horrifying incident, an alcoholic son, angered by his mothers' refusal to give him money to purchase liquor is said to have battered the latter to death in Yalavadala village of Kalagatigi taluk in Dharwad district. The victim has been identified as Shankravva (68). As per reports, her son Veerabhadrappa (35) would often pester her for money to fund his alcoholic habit and the duo would end up quarrelling over the issue. On the day of the incident, an argument ensued between Shankravva and Veerabhadrappa. In a fit of rage, Veerabhadrappa is said to have struck his mother with a stone. He also assaulted his wife when she tried to intervene in the quarrel. While Shankravva succumbed to her wounds, Veerabhadrappa's wife sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a Hubballi hospital. The police have nabbed Veerabhadrappa and a case has been registered. Source: News Karnataka
