NEW DELHI: Congress on Friday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his government's completion of a month, saying his work involved the rail fare hike, rising sugar prices and a policy that would see regular hike in prices of petroleum products. The party took a dig at Modi for his comment about "serious hard work" during the last 30 days. "Whether this hard work has been directed at delaying the implementation of the historical Food Security Act? ... Whether this decision is not anti-poor and reflective of insensitivity of the Modi government?" asked Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala. He taunted the Modi government, saying the promised "achhe din" have evaporated in thin air within 30 days and the "hard work" has been directed at making unconstitutional and unwarranted interference in the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court, a reference to rejection of the candidature of Gopal Subramanium for the SC bench. Surjewala also accused the BJP-led government of belittling one of the most respected jurists who had taken an independent stand against Gujarat government and Amit Shah as a SC appointed counsel in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
