Congress' Mission Wonder Women: Give more tickets to women candidates in Karnataka, says Rahul Gandhi

Rolling out Congress' Mission 2019, party's president Rahul Gandhi reached out to country's women by sending a clear message that under his Raj, he wants more women to join the party. "I want to see 50 per cent women at AICC sessions, in Parliament and among chief ministers of state governments," said Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the biggest all women public meeting in Bijapur, Karnataka.
Through this public meeting - Stree Shakti Samavesh- Rahul Gandhi clearly outlined the policy of the Congress party as far women are concerned.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi added, "In the Congress government more women will be part of the administration. I would like to request KPCC President Dr Parameshwara and CM Siddharamaiah to give more tickets to women candidates."
Congress is already demanding that 33 per cent reservation bill be brought and passed by the Parliament. Gandhi scion said, "Congress government was responsible for bringing in reservation for women in Gram Panchayat administration. Today, Congress is also fighting for women's reservation in Parliament. As and when Congress government comes to power in India, we will ensure reservation for women in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha" During recently held Congress Steering Committee - which is now the highest decision-making body of the party- meet Amethi MP Gandhi had laid emphasis on the need to boost women representation in Congress at all levels. "We need to empower everybody, not one person, not almost everybody, but everybody. We talk a lot about becoming a superpower in the world but till the women of our country do not feel comfortable and secured, our country cannot become a superpower," Rahul Gandhi said. While referring to Karnataka, which is the first state in India to have an industrial park for women entrepreneurs, Gandhi said, "We wish to see more women in administration, especially at the Central level. Karnataka government has launched many schemes for the empowerment of women." Source: India Today
