Mangaluru, Jun 19: Coastal Karnataka is expected to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall between June 20 and June 22, 2024, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has issued a red alert for the region, indicating the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 204.4 mm over the specified period.

The forecast suggests that districts along the coast, including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada, should brace for significant precipitation. The IMD has advised residents and authorities to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the heavy rains.

In addition to Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe are also expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during the same period. The red alert for these regions similarly predicts rainfall in the range of 64.5 mm to 204.4 mm.

Authorities are urged to ensure that emergency response systems are in place and that the public is informed about potential weather-related disruptions. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea during this period due to rough sea conditions.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and adhere to advisories issued by local authorities to ensure safety during this period of intense rainfall.
