Burglars steal gold, cash worth over Rs 5.5 lakh from Bhatkal house

Bhatkal: Burglars broke into a house on Kidwai Road in Bhatkal and decamped with gold ornaments and cash worth several lakhs of rupees, police said.

The theft was reported at the residence of Nahid Akhtar (49), a resident of 1st Cross, Kidwai Road. A complaint has been lodged at Bhatkal Town Police Station.

According to the complaint, the theft took place in the early hours of May 8 at around 12.50 am. The miscreants allegedly gained entry into the house by breaking the glass of a rear window.

After entering the house, they opened the door and stole about 55 grams of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 5.5 lakh, along with Rs 10,000 in cash, before fleeing from the spot.

Police visited the house soon after receiving information and conducted an inspection.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
