The BJP’s state unit has announced a state-wide satyagraha demanding the immediate resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George. Demanding that Mr. George by dropped from the Cabinet, BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa, on Monday, said the party would hold a protest satyagraha in Bengaluru on September 16. Similar protests would be held in all district centres across the state. He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must drop Mr. George from the Cabinet, as the Supreme Court has now ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged suicide of Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy. “The Supreme Court has set a three-month deadline for the probe. Mr. George must resign and we have no objection if he rejoins the Cabinet when he is given a clean chit,” he said. Mr. George has also been a “big failure as Bengaluru Development Minister”, which was evident during the recent floods in the city that had affected large sections of the citizenry, he said. “The government claims they have spent over ₹4,000 crore for Bengaluru. But where has the money gone? If it was spent on quality work, why would there be floods?” he questioned. Mr. Yeddyurappa also claimed that they were in possession of documents that showed the involvement of chief minister Siddaramaiah and his family members in corruption “beyond any doubt” and said he would release the documents soon.
