Bhatkalli youngster wins gold medal at inter-college event

Bhatkallys News Service/ Ismail Zaorez Shabab Bhatkal, 18 November 2016: Raising the bar for excellence in sports, Mohammed Ayyad Kashimji, an alumnus of Anjuman Hami-E-Muslimeen bagged the top prize at an inter-college athletic meet. Ayyad finished with a gold medal in the hammer throw event at the 19th VTU intercollegiate athletic meet which was hosted at Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology Kolar. Previously, Ayyad had won silver medals in the same event i the 16th and 18th VTU athletic meet. Son of Nazeer Kashimji, a popular social worker, Ayyad’s success is not a one off achievement. He has consistently won accolades and honours at various sporting events. The young achiever has completed his B. Tech in civil stream from Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) and is currently pursuing his masters at the prestigious NMAMIT NITTE. His enrollment at the institute as a masters student of structural engineering was made possible through a sports quota admission. Bhatkallys.com contacted Ayyad for a brief conversation where he expressed his desire to serve the Bhatkal community and work towards the development of his native place by guiding young civil engineers. When asked about his future plans, Ayyad had an unusual answer as he said, “I would like to join AITM as a teaching staff where I can contribute to the community by guiding aspiring engineers.” Ayyad has had a keen interest in sports right from his childhood and represented various clubs and colleges at different level including state level participation in football while representing Anjuman Junior College, and different events of BIFA, a local football club where Ayyad was an active member.
