Bhatkal: Youth arrested for illegal cattle transportation near Halyani

Bhatkal: Bhatkal Rural Police Station police have arrested a youth on charges of illegally transporting cattle in a car near Halyani in Hadavalli village of the taluk.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Danish (30), a resident of Magdum Colony. Police said he has been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

According to police, Forest Department personnel who were on patrol near Halyani around 4:15 am on May 17 noticed cattle allegedly being transported illegally in a car.

On spotting the Forest Department vehicle, the accused reportedly abandoned the car at the spot and fled from the scene.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that four persons were allegedly involved in the case.

A team led by PSI Bharamappa Belagali later conducted an operation and succeeded in arresting one accused.

Police said efforts are continuing to trace the remaining three accused, who are absconding.
